The only eclipse that will be visible from Spain in 2026 will be a total solar eclipse, observable on August 12 at sunset, especially from Salamanca.
The National Geographic Institute (IGN) explains that it will be the first solar eclipse visible from the Iberian Peninsula, although in this area it will only be seen in its final phases, since the phenomenon will end over the Balearic Islands almost at sunset. Even so, the IGN highlights that Spain will be one of the best places in the world to observe it, which is expected to attract numerous enthusiasts and tourists interested in this type of astronomical event.
In addition, the eclipse will occur just before the night of peak activity of the Perseids, allowing observers to remain in place to also enjoy the popular meteor shower, with no interference from the Moon, which will not hinder the visibility of the meteors.
